Feeling odd.

I have been a busy boy of late, so have not updated that is page in a while.

I have another site going I’m not sick of updating yet, and it will kind of document how my skill base is improving and help out others. I’m not going to put a link here (well not yet anyway) I want to get it all looking nice first. That does seem to be the problem I have with my sites, I never seem to get the look of the thing right. I am determined (with a little help) to sort that out for a change. I will then let you know what it is all about then.

So back to me

I am not the kind of person that likes to tell everyone my problems, as they are mine, so its up to me to sort them out at the end of the day. I think that is why I started this blog of mine so that I can get some things off my chest, even if I never know that you have read the page. To be honest I doubt that there will be many people that will have read this (but I will keep track, I always do now!)

I did have a great weekend away at silverstone a few weeks ago, I realy enjoyed myself, and liked the drive, even if we did have to go in two cars, it turned out to be a good thing in the end, as the campervan did run out of fuel on the way back! hehe!! :)

As with most things that karma sorts out in your life, you have to take the good with the bad, and I haven’t really wanted to talk to anyone for a week. This seems to happen to me a few times a year, for no reason at all, I just don’t login to MSN, sorry aMSN (Get it right!!), or text anyone that hasn’t texted me first. I don’t know why this happens but it seems to, I just keep my head down and do as people ask, this is so I don’t f*ck up anything bad, like I have in the past.

I feel like I am over the hill for the time being, I am liking my music again (hed kandi and fierce angel RULE!!) and feel more up beat about the whole living in this world again.

Buffness

I have always been abit on the skinny side. I m usually pale as well, this usually leads people to the conclusion that I am ill and am not eating. I do eat, just in little portions. I have finally got around to getting a personal trainer sorted at the gym, I am going to try and build up some muscles, this is probably one of the biggest challenges I have set myself in a long while as it will require me to change the way I eat and to actually go to the gym more than once a week. I am making the most of the time until Saturday when I have my first ‘lesson’ by eating as much of the sweets in my house, as I have a sneaky feeling that I wont be able to eat them when I start.

I am thinking at the moment that I might use this blog to record my progress as well as some of the stuff that I am doing in my life. I just hope that this will eventually become something of a jornal to some extent that my friends (or complete strangers) can read to get into my head abit more and help understand me as a person. Now that is a challenge!! Lol

Well I think that is enough about me for the time being, I will talk to you again sometime soon

Well I have had a bit of a think, and after I put my head back together I Think that I will start a new blog to put more of the tech stuff on, and keep this space for more of the personal stuff in my life.

The real result of this is that this blog might not get as many updates, but they will be more about what is going on in my life, like getting older and learning PHP properly at last!

As this is the last day that I am my current age (and no I’m not going to tell you what that is, I thought it would be prudent to mark the occasion. I do feel that I have advanced my life a bit this year, I have had a couple of goes at starting relationships (haven’t done that in a while) and feel like I might just want to keep that going for the next year. I have got better at my job, and I’m doing something that I love. Programming.

I have been out of the programming pool for a while, but have got straight back in there and due to the fact that the voices in my head will not stop talking about programming I feel tired, but I have a day or so off from work, and hopefully I will feel refreshed when I am on the other side.

Well I’m going to have a sneaky watch of a carpool and then go home and probably sleep, or read some comics, depends on how tired I am!

I thought it was time for a new post on here, I seem to be fining it harder and harder to think of stuff to put up, and when I do, it only goes as far as a draft as I realise that I was just venting my anger into this page

This week has all been about consoles in the news (well the news that I read) and the war of 360 Vs PS3 still rages on. I did get myself a PS3 in celebration of another rotation around the big light bulb, so I can see both sides, but ultimately 360 wins at the moment. Yes I know it uses DVD’s and you have to pay for online play, but it is worth it as it is faster and more reliable than PSN, and if it brakes you get free stuff!!

I have also started to venture in to the land of SQL. For those that dont know what that is, it is a database for websites, or lots of excel pages in one place. It doesn’t seem that bad as I know my way around PHP and HTML so that is a big chunk of the work sorted, I just need a project to sink my teeth into (I smell a comic themed thingy here).

I have had some up’s and downs in my life the past few weeks but this isn’t the place to go into that. I will just have to slowly incorporate my thoughts into one of theses random posts and you will never know! Lol

Before I forget watch the Dollhouse TV show, it might not be the best show in the world but it has tonnes of potential, just look at meh shows like the Simpsons were in the early days (and in the been going for so long we have run out of ideas stage, but that is a whole different point)

If this all goes to plan you will not see any difference to my site, well there is a small one but if you spot it i will be very impressed and will buy you some sweets.

I have a new place to put some of the many thoughts and ideas that I have in my head at any one time, its not a big change, but it is a change non the less, I can also do some more experiments on here, and I have just started a new one, and you guessed it, im not telling you about it, don’t want to give the game away, and I need to get it to work first.

Finishing jobs off at the moment seems to be proving to be quite an issue, so I think that I will set some time aside to finish the Centre Stage site off, will need some content from them to finish it off, I just hope that they like the look of it

Well as my tummy is having a rumble I best pop off for a bit, see ya later

Well I have been a busy boy, I have got my theme for this side up (there are a few tweaks that are needed, but hey its better than it was). I have got halfway through another site, another few hours and that will be done. So web wise it is going swimmingly.

I have also dipped my toe in to javascript and have written a nice script from scrath, I will add it to the testing area of the site soon, and might even do my first tut on it aswell as it could be quite a usefull script for others to use.

Finally i have started to write my first app for my iPhone. This will either be brill and hopefully make me some pennies so I can buy myself a PS3, or it will be crap and no-one will use it, either way I will have made an app! and how many people can say that at the gates? (well if that is what happens at the end).

Not a big update but still an update. I will let you know when I do anything else to the site.

I am a big believer in karma. I can’t say when I started to believe, as it is about the only no-sciencey thing that I do honestly believe in. It must boild down to the fact that whenever something bad happens to me, like loosing my job all those years ago (I think its just past 3 now), I found a better one – and also proved the ‘its who you know, not what you know’ at the same time, I now have a house as a direct result of that move (and yest I did pay for that bought of good karma).

I suppose the point of my woffle today is that I just needed to express myself in some way, and I haven’t had a good moan in ages (I know what you are thinking, and its not in that way!).

It just seems that there are little things going off in my life at the moment, most don’t effect me directly, but due to the butterfly effect, see to get to me, I try (and im quite good at it btw) to defect the insults and bad tempers, but sometimes they just still seem to get through and scratch the surface, and as we all know, just like bee stings, one or two are annoying, but the greater the numbers the more it effects you, until eventually it makes you ill. I just have to make sure that I let it out in little bursts rather than all at once, which is how it generally goes down with me. Running seems to help, as I seem to onvert the anger into km’s, and that also has the bonus that it make me fitter as well as helping with the anger.

I don’t think I actually had a point to this ramble like I will try to have for most of them on here, but I suppose, if I have one it is this. Don’t let the little stuff get to you, talk it out, go and have a whinge, as that is alot better then punching something – and a lot less painful I might add.

This is more of a personal post, rather than anything else so I think it deserves its own section on the site, this way it wont get in the way off some of the more information based writeings that I might have on here at some point.

Well it has totally snuck on me this year, I did have a couple of things that I thought would be appropriate but needed to start them last night, will just have to wait till next year now.

There have been a few good ones about tho, the yodeling guitar hero, you tube been upside down, being able to run windows on a iPhone (Not confirmed as yet but I think it has to be a ‘fools’ joke that one!) and the frogs with bionic legs.

I will get you all next year! (if I remember that is!)

I have been busy and now have the ability to add a floating information bar on the site. Doen’t work in IE6 (but if you are still using it, you don’t deserve pretty websites!) and the cookie thing doesn’t like Firefox, but I can live with that! I might add one to this site at some point if there is a good reason to, but for the moment I will just keep it ready ‘just in case’. That is one job off the list, now onto the other 9!

I have a day off soon, so hopefully I will be able to wow you with a proper site style and you will all be very impressed.

My head is now empty so I’m off to catch-up on some Red Dwarf as the new episodes start very soon!

This is the first post of the ‘blog’ section of the site.

I don’t really know what direction I want this chunk of the site to go at the moment, I might be a selection of things that have interested me, posts on how I have overcome problems that have stood in my way, or just somewhere I can rant, but I will just have to try to make sure that I keep posing bits here regularly as I usually forget after a while!

I defiantly wont be having one of those blogs where I go on about what I’m eating, who I’m dating that sort of crap, because if this site is actually good and people visit it, then the chances are you wont know me, so why would you want to know if I had a curry for tea? and if you do want to know that I think you have more problems than a simple blog can fix.

If I haven’t insulted/offended you with that last statement you might wonder what IE (internet explorer, for the new) and wasted time have in common. I shall tell you, as you cant have IE without some form of wasted time, this is one of the laws of the modern internet.

IE is the big daddy in the web browser world at the moment (but that is changing) and because of this has created its own set of rules on how to display a web page.

So What?

I’m glad you asked. Why could this be a problem? It might not be one for you directly but it is a big problem for me, as I make web pages for a job, and this is my blog, so it is important.

It means that when I code a page, I have to test it in Firefox it looks nice, everything is lined up and I feel happy. I then have to test the page in as many web apps as I can find (currently 12!!) to see if it still looks pretty in them, for the most part they look the same in all the browsers apart form IE, this means I have to then spend time creating new styles just for this browser, and it usually takes forever to get it right and I have to make sure it doesn’t brake the site in the browsers that I already worked in. Hopefully IE 8 will fix this, or it might just create a whole new set of problems (I will just have to wait till it is released)

I am currently working my way through creating my first wordpress plugin at the moment, I have got the hang of making templates for it so this is a good thing to move onto. Making a plugin seems to be a bit more difficult as there doesn’t seem to be a ‘all in one’ guide on how to start to make one, so I think that might be a good place to start for my tutorial section (when I get round to making one!).
